notes on letting go the use of a mobile phone

2018-12-12 : the question is “when is enough, enough?” renaming mobile phone or smartphone to “tracking device” (remember it’s surveillance implications!) remembering also its energy consumption - not only in itself but in the cellular infrastructure/network (and in the internet infrastructure?) does immediacy really help? arguments in both sides. there might be valuable chat groups. it’s nice to feel connected with so many kilometers in between… how much it is another case of short-term pleasure in conflict with the long-term “goal” of “preservation of the living world, including our species” read more...

fossil fuel(ed) life

2018-11-19 : even though i might say i’m living a “simple life”, if i think about it my carbon footprint by directly and indirectly using fossil fuels seems to be very high still. (not that my individual abstinence will directly help in any way… but that’s another topic) by [practically] always using my bike or feet as the means of transportation, i’m “saving” fossil fuels in my own transportation… however there’s still the production and transport of the tire patches, oil, and other replacements i would need, as well as the energy that the store requires to run. read more...

fair fear

2018-10-25 : i would argue that the people that fear a revolution know deep inside that they have been living with an unfair advantage over others. if the system was obviously fair for everyone, why would they - the people that will take or destroy “your” property, the people that might want to hurt you once the opression is released, the people that challenge the way things are - have resentment against you? read more...
